SafeBears presents: Student leaders discuss safety and the special election

  • Zoom details below (map)

Join us for a special Zoom webinar where we will hear what a group of student leaders at Cal feel are the most pressing safety issues at UC Berkeley, and what the administration needs to do to keep students safe.

The shooting in Lower Sproul Plaza in early February has brought long-simmering safety issues to the surface, with students calling the administration out for its failure to issue timely communications that evening. Additionally, a group of Jewish students came under direct threat of violence when protesters shut down an event they had planned to host on Feb 26.

Guests include:

  • James Chang, Haas MBA Graduate Assembly Delegate, Candidate for Berkeley City Council

  • Kaylie Escobar-Islas, ASUC Senate Candidate, Latine Community Excellence Co-Executive

  • Catherine Bauer, Campaign Manager, James Chang for City Council

  • Jose Massauh, ASUC Senator

We will conduct a moderated discussion with our guests followed by Q&A.

Please invite your Bear to join you for this special event! Besides getting their voice into the conversation, we’ll be sharing information about how students can register to vote in Berkeley’s upcoming elections.
