SafeBears 2023-2024 Highlights

Dear SafeBear,

It’s been an exciting year! Because of YOU, we accomplished all of this and more:

• Private security pilot — our safety ambassador stopped an attack. We got the attention of the media and UC President Drake

• Safety measures — we worked with administration on night safety shuttles, residence hall safety ambassadors, and Community Service Officer hiring

• Motivated establishment of The Cal Student Safety Fund

• City of Berkeley advocacy — we successfully lobbied for license plate readers, permanent hiring of the police chief, and signing bonuses for new police officers

• WarnMe education and advocacy with members and administration

• Met with Vice Chancellors, ASUC representatives, UC Police Department, UC Systemwide Director of Community Safety, Business Process Management Office and discussed Residential & Student Service Programs, Student Affairs, Clery Compliance, WarnMe Notification System, Title IX, Campus Lighting and Blue Light Emergency Phones.

SafeBears is proud of all we have done together.  But we know that more needs to be done to make Cal safer.  Please join us.
